"Traveling literally makes my soul happy." It's a quote that I shared with Pink Pangea - a community that encourages women to travel and share their experiences. Last month, Pink Pangea featured my personal story about my trip to Jamaica - read here. I find that preparing for a trip and packing is a simple task but I know for many that it can be challenging and because people are unclear on how to pack.

I like to travel and am working on increasing my travel experiences, but the reason preparing for my trips are so easy is because I use packing cubes. Even on vacation I find a way to be organized. I hope you didn’t think that traveling would be any different? Nope. I'm just a naturally organized and I refuse to live in dysfunction and even on vacation, I must have order. That's why I love these packing cubes that I purchased from Marshalls because they were exactly what I was looking for. Trust me - if you don't have packing cubes then you need to make that investment. Here's why:

So, why are packing cubes necessary?

  1. Groups Like Items: A packed suitcase will have the basics: clothes, shoes, bags, accessories, and toiletries. So, I recommend that you organize your suitcase by grouping like items together. Use a packing cube to store all shoes, another packing cube for outfits, and a packing cube to store purses or other accessories. When you do this, you save yourself time from having to search through your suitcase just to locate one item.

  2. Take Inventory: Packing cubes can give your suitcase an organized look but they also allow you to take inventory of what you have packed. An organized suitcase that includes packing cubes is a great tracking system and will help you to recall what was packed so when it's time to head back home you know exactly what you brought along with you.

  3. Provides Protection: I have witnessed the embarrassment other travelers have felt when selected by TSA to have their suitcases searched. I understand TSA is just doing their job but naturally, it can feel like an invasion of privacy. This is where packing cubes can come in handy because your clothes will be handled by someone else other than yourself. If your suitcase ever gets selected for a random search it will make things a lot easier because the contents inside the packing cubes can be easily viewed.

Packing cubes save you time and money but they also protect your clothes from being mishandled or even damaged.  They can save you the embarrassment of having your suitcase searched by TSA which isn't the most pleasant feeling. Make the investment by utilizing packing cubes so that you can focus more on your travels and having fun!
